The Auvergne is one of the most picturesque areas of France - perfect for photographers and artists. The park stretches over nearly 400,000 hectares and was created to promote and protect this special natural environment, which includes over 30 species of birds, wildlife in abundance and 5000 different species of plants.
The Auvergne is a region brimming with unspoilt villages, medieval towns and breathtaking scenery.The Auvergne is one of the most picturesque areas of France.
For seekers of history, the Auvergne is renowned for its Romanesque churches, chateaux, monuments and abbeys. The nearby cities of Vichy, Clermont-Ferrand, and Le Puy-en-Velay all have wonderful shopping facilities or perhaps the local markets and antique shops will appeal to you.

The Auvergne is teeming with fabulous Romanesque churches. The church at Usson, a picturesque medieval town perched on the slopes of a small extinct volcano. The streets of Le Puy-en-Velay date back to medieval times and are steeped in history. The cloisters of the medieval Abbey at nearby La Chaise Dieu. The white statue of the Virgin Mary surmounting the peak of the medival town of Usson, voted one of the 100 most beautiful places in France. The Auvergne is teeming with fabulous Romanesque churches.
